According to the data of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, there has been a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting Turkey in recent years. However, the remarkable point is that tourism revenues do not increase at the same rate as the increase in the number of tourists. These figures show that the tourists coming to our country do not spend too much money.
The number of tourists coming to our country has increased to 35 million and is the sixth in the world. The targeted target is 50 million tourists and 50 billion dollars.
In the tourism industry, there are two essential points: good service and excellent quality. In order to ensure service quality at these two points, it is necessary to operate according to internationally accepted standards and to obtain the certificate of these standards. Success in these two points can only be proved by an internationally recognized document to be issued by a certification body.
Standards Related to Tourism Sector
Numerous standards have been developed in the tourism sector. First of all is the HOTEQ 500 Hotel Quality Management System standard. This standard has been developed for the tourism sector, accommodation facilities, hotels, pensions, holiday villages and similar businesses.
ISO 18513 Tourism Services Management System standard is based on ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard and meets the needs of businesses operating in tourism sector.
Apart from these two basic standards, hotel good environmental practices, hotel quality certificate, thermal tourism hotel quality certificate, tourism service quality certificate, international SPA quality certificate and many other standards and certification practices have been developed.
Another standard series in this field is our company TÜRCERT Technical Control and Certification Inc. is a Tourism Star Certification System.
