LVD stands for Low Voltage Directive in English and stands for low voltage directive. However, it is generally used in our country to express low voltage tests. This directive is the Regulation on Electrical Equipment Designed for Use within Certain Voltage Limits 2006 / 95 / EC. If the products are found to be suitable after the tests carried out in accordance with the requirements of this regulation, a certificate of conformity is issued by the testing organization.
The low-voltage directive or low-voltage regulation includes electric vehicles that use voltage or voltage between 50 Volt AC (75 Volt DC) and 1000 Volt AC (1500 Volt DC). This regulation is briefly intended to ensure the safety of electric vehicles. Firms producing such electric vehicles, if they comply with the relevant safety requirements and conformity assessment processes, have the CE mark on their products.
It is known that the CE marking on the products is entirely the responsibility of the manufacturer. Producer companies cannot put CE mark on the product without having the necessary tests and obtaining the conformity report. Otherwise, they have to bear the sanctions.
Within the scope of harmonization studies with the European Union, standardization studies are carried out in our country. In this context, LVD tests that prove the safety of the products are of great importance for companies producing electrical and electronic devices, especially for the production of machinery and white goods.
What is the scope of the LVD test
When LVD tests are mentioned, there are actually many tests. Although only insulation test, high voltage test, leakage current test or grounding continuity test comes to mind at first, LVD tests are performed on many subjects. For example, although different tests are applied according to the relevant standard and product, LVD tests in general include: power measurement, temperature rise and warm-up test, isolation intervals and surface leak paths testing, protection against penetration of liquid and solid objects, glow wire test, air conditioning test, humidification test, mechanical tests, unusual working test.
