Cargo Lift Inspection

The elevators were first used in the nineteenth century, especially in the mining and transport of coal and mines extracted in mines and in the transport of necessary materials in factories, before being used in residences and workplaces. These first examples of elevators were operated by steam power. In these elevators, a drum was rotated by a steam engine, the elevator car being pulled up while the ropes were wrapped around the drum. Otis, an American inventor, has started to produce the first elevators in today's sense thanks to the safe braking system developed for elevators.

Cargo elevators have started to develop in different directions in parallel with the needs of factories and large enterprises. Today, hoists of different sizes, different capacities and different working systems are used.

In order to be used in factories, warehouses and shopping malls where cargo transportation is very intensive, hoists with a capacity of one ton to 12 tons are manufactured.

Cargo elevators are designed and manufactured to have a long service life. In general, steel plates are used on the doors and walls of elevator cars.

However, the ability of hoists to operate without causing any danger depends on regular inspections and inspections.

Control and Inspection Principles of Freight Elevators

The Regulation on Elevator Maintenance and Operation issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2008, and the Regulation on the Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in 2013, the operation, maintenance, regular conditions and standards for after-sales services, the criteria and standards to be followed and the minimum requirements for health and safety.

There are many test and inspection institutions to carry out these inspections and inspections. our organization TÜRCERT Technical Control and Certification Inc. performs regular control operations of freight elevators.

Regular inspections of freight and human lifts are carried out in accordance with the following basic standards:

  • TS EN 81-3 + A1 Lifts - Safety regulations for construction and assembly - Part 3: Electrical and hydraulic service lifts
  • TS EN 13015 + A1 Maintenance of elevators and escalators - Rules for maintenance instructions
  • TS ISO 9386-1 Power-driven lifting platforms for handicapped people - Safety, dimensions and rules for functional operation - Part 1: Vertical lifting platforms
  • TS ISO 9386-2 Power-driven lifting platforms for mobility-impaired people - Safety, dimensions and functional requirements - Part 2: Power-driven stair lift for moving users, standing users and wheelchair users in a tilted plane

According to the regulation, regular control and inspection of lifting and transmission equipment equipped with electronic control system (lifts carrying cargo and people belong to this group) shall be carried out by persons authorized to carry out regular checks in machinery and electrical branches. If there is no other period specified in the standards, the hoists must be checked once a year.

According to the regulation, regular inspections of lifting and conveying equipment (including hoists) have to be carried out by mechanical engineers and machine technicians or by high technicians. If periodic inspections are to be carried out by non-destructive testing methods, these inspections may only be carried out by engineers and technicians or technicians trained in accordance with the TS EN 473 standard.

Our company TÜRCERT Technical Control and Certification Inc., in all capacities and power control and inspection services of freight elevators, with a competent manager and employee staff and a strong infrastructure and quality, reliable and fast way.
