Hot Oil Boiler Inspection Inspection

Today, businesses in many industrial sectors need high temperatures during their production activities. The heat energy required to reach these high temperatures is generally transmitted by water vapor. However, some businesses require at least three times the boiling point of water in order to operate. However, the high pressure required at this point increases the cost of using water steam boilers, but more importantly, there is a risk for a safe working environment. 300 is the most efficient and safe way to use heat oil boilers to obtain heat energy at degrees and higher temperatures. Hot oil systems allow high temperatures which cannot be reached by fluids such as boiling water and steam at the same atmospheric pressure level.

In hot oil boilers, the oils used to carry heat are thermal oils which do not lose their chemical and physical properties above 300 degrees. Moreover, in water-steam systems, negative conditions such as lime bonding and corrosion, which reduce the efficiency of the system, which can cause frequent breakdowns and require maintenance, do not occur in hot oil boilers.

With these properties, the fields where hot oil boilers are used are: textile sector, paper sector, chemical sector, rubber and plastic sector, soap and detergent sector, petroleum sector, building materials sector and food sector.

Hot oil boilers are used to provide heat transfer in the processes where the companies need high temperatures in a very short time. Hot oil boilers are generally produced in two ways as horizontal and vertical. Black sheet is used for the boiler body and seamless steel drawing pipes are used for the boiler pipes. Hot oil boilers are suitable for use with fuel oil, LPG, natural gas fuels. These boilers are manufactured in accordance with DIN 4745 standard.

For the safe operation of hot oil boilers, it is necessary to carry out the installation and operation works in accordance with the rules and to have regular inspections and inspections carried out in a timely manner.

Control and Inspection Principles of Hot Oil Boilers

The control and inspection procedures of hot oil boilers are not different from hot water boilers. As a result, hot oil boilers are also classified as pressure vessels and installations.

Hot Oil Boilers, Pressure Vessels and Installations are published in the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. In this context, the control and inspection operations of hot oil boilers shall be based on the Pressure Equipment Regulation published in 2007, the Portable Pressure Equipment Regulation published in 2012 and the Simple Pressure Vessels Regulation published in 2006.

In addition, the standards to be considered according to the Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment are as follows:

  • TS 2025 Steam boilers operation - General rules of inspection and maintenance
  • TS EN 13445-5 Pressure receptacles - Non-contact - Section 5: Inspection and testing
  • TS EN 12952-6 Water tube boilers and auxiliary installations - Part 6: Inspection during manufacture. Documentation and marking of pressure-exposed parts.
  • TS 497 Boilers - Steel (welded)
  • TS 377-12 EN 12953-12 Cylindrical boilers - Part 12: Part of the specification standard for grate combustion systems of solid fuel boilers.
  • TS EN 10216-1 Seamless steel tubes for pressure purposes - Technical delivery conditions - Part 1: Non-alloy steel tubes with specified room temperature properties
