Consciousness of steel structure is developing very slowly in our country. Nevertheless, the steel structure sector has turned to exports due to the demands coming from abroad. This situation has been promising for the development of the sector. Especially in the 1990 years, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the end of the Warsaw Pact and the end of the Cold War period, the development of the steel structure sector in our country gained momentum with the new world order. In recent years, steel structure exports have been concentrated on Iraq, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkic Republics. Countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria and Sudan have also become important markets.
In our country, the steel structure sector has been developing parallel to steel production and has made significant progress in terms of both design, manufacturing and contracting services.
The increase in structural steel processing capacity has been due to the fact that the existing enterprises focused on automation and increased their quality and capacity, rather than the introduction of new enterprises into the sector.
If the advantages of steel are utilized in urban transformation projects, these projects will contribute more to the sector. It is necessary to give more importance to the recognition, preference and utilization of steel structures in our country. In the coming years, it is expected that steel structure exports will continue and the awareness of steel structure will be more settled within the country.
ISO 9001 Standard in Steel Construction Industry
Our country is experiencing big earthquakes in terms of its geological and topographic structure. 92 percent of our land is located in earthquake zones and 95 percent of people live in these regions. Steel structures are mostly used by industrial enterprises that need large areas (62 percent). In addition, steel construction is used in long bridges, exhibition and conference halls and sports halls. However, in recent years there has been an increasing interest in the use of steel in housing.
