E Certificate - E mark Certification

In accordance with the directives of the European Union or the regulations of the European Economic Commission, companies wishing to introduce motor vehicle systems, parts, components and separate technical components to the European market must obtain an e-Mark or E-mark certificate. It is compulsory to obtain an e-Mark certificate from them. Obtaining the E-Mark certificate is optional. In this way, companies have proven that their products meet the basic requirements of traffic safety and environmental protection conditions.

In short, e-Mark or E-Mark certification means compliance with European standards for these products, and these products must have e-Mark or E-Mark certification in order to be legally marketable in European countries.

In order to obtain E certificate, it is necessary to determine the standard to which the motor vehicle system, parts, components and separate technical components to be certified shall be included. For this purpose, the products are tested in an accredited laboratory. In these tests, if it is determined that the product meets the conditions stipulated by the standard, an E certificate is issued and the right to put an E mark on these products is granted. The numbers in these marks refer to the product's origin. The standards which are the basis of E certificate are continuously renewed.

The product groups covered by the E certificate application are as follows: trailers, lamps, headlights, braking systems, seat belts, vehicle locks, vehicle seats, child safety belts and seats, reflectors, front fog lamps, head restraints, crash protection systems and front and rear impact tests.

In our country, the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology issued the Type Approval Regulation (661 / 2009 / AT) on the General Safety of Motor Vehicles and Trailers, Systems, Components and Separate Technical Units designed for them. This regulation was issued in order to fulfill the obligation to comply with the road structure and traffic safety during the production and use of motor vehicles and to protect human health and the natural environment. For this purpose, it regulates the type approval requirements for the safety of parts, components, systems and separate technical equipment produced for motor vehicles and their trailers.

Our laboratory always gives fast, high quality, reliable, precise and accurate results in tests carried out with an experienced and trained staff and using modern powerful technological test equipment. Also by our organization E certificate services are provided.

In short, there are two different systems for the certification of motor vehicles and equipment and technical components used in European countries:

  • e-Mark Certification (European Union Certification)

It is a compulsory safety certificate to be applied to motor vehicles, systems, parts and technical components of the member countries in accordance with the product directives of the European Union. The testing organization must be a technical service organization of a member state of the European Union. The e-Mark certificate is issued by the state transport sector of this country. Each of the countries of the European Union has its own e-Mark certificate number. For example, e1 Germany, e2 France, e3 Italy, e4 Netherlands and e5 Sweden.

  • E-Mark Certification (United Nations European Economic Commission Certification)

It is a safety certificate which is optional to apply to motor vehicles, systems, parts and technical components in accordance with the regulations issued by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. So it is not mandatory. European Union countries, as well as other European countries and non-European countries can apply this certification. Each member country has its own E-Mark certificate number. For example, E1 Germany, France E2, E3 Italy, Turkey E37, such as Japan and E43 E47 South Africa.
