The annual honey production of our country is close to one thousand tons of 100 and it is the second largest honey producer in the world after China. In spite of this, our country ranks 18 in the world honey export.
However, as in every profession, fake companies in the apiculture sector are derived and counterfeits of different brands are produced under different names. In the legal audits conducted by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, different mixtures are detected in the honeys produced by many brands and companies. Moreover, these companies are sometimes disclosed to the public.
In accordance with the Regulation on Official Control of Food and Feed, published in 2011, the names, names and brands of the companies producing and putting on the market the products that are spoiled or altered to endanger the lives and health of people are published on the official website of the Ministry. In this context, the laboratory results are also disclosed to the public.
Nevertheless, honey fraud continues to be threatened to human health. On the other hand, there are companies that try to make the beekeeping profession in a reliable and honest way, produce projects in this field and establish new facilities. For example, the facility built in Ordu within the scope of an important beekeeping project will be operational with modern machinery and equipment in 2017 year. This project is also funded and supported by the European Union.
